Very clean example of a car we americans don’t get to see very often.
Skoda Fabia S2000 (or Super 2000), killer little rally bred 4 door hatch, rumor is there will be a street version called the VRS late this year released as a 2010 model. Normally aspirated 280hp 4 cylinder, 6 speed sequential box, all wheel drive with 3 mechanical differentials. Sign me up!
I’ve been really bored with the lip on the red hatch lately, as you could probably tell from my Purple Speed post. So I was looking around at different lips today, hoping to find something unique, mildly aggressive, and hopefully actually available for purchase. I went looking for EKs with the Tsunami lip which turns out to be a little too pointy for my taste but I did find this sweet car with one. It’s a D14Z1 powered EJ9 from the Netherlands finished in factory Bordeaux Red. The owner managed to get 123hp @ 7K rpm out of the little 1.4 with the help of a Y8 intake manifold, DC header, OEM CTR muffler, OBD1 conversion and P06 tuned on Chrome. The rear lip is an OEM optional sedan/coupe piece. I thought it was a neat and kind of unique little car, there’s something refreshing about it’s throwback vibe.
I don’t have to tell you about drift cars, angle, and the mods they do to get more steering angle out of their cars, you’ve seen all that. But you haven’t seen it done to this extreme. I saw this on the Nori Yaro blog and I bet you have that same ORLY look on your face I did lol. Just as awesome is this quote from the post
“Before the engineers and mechanics amongst you get all fidgety and start mumbling about not cutting and welding steering components, remember that this is Japan, and the regular laws of physics and common sense do not apply to this country.”
I’m sure you saw the A320 that went down in the Hudson River today, I tell ya what, that pilot is THE MAN. To put that plane down that soft and level and still keep the nose up enough not to stuff it after an extrodinarily rare double bird strike….fuck me. A bird strike while cruising is usually undramatic, bird enters engine, engine flames out (extinguishes the flame in the combustion chamber) and pilot restarts engine, but at take off under heavy load they’re not so easily restarted and the plane begins to stall. Everyone got out ok, hell most of them didn’t even get wet, that guy is a rock star of the highest order. Here’s a more typical bird strike at take off.
Pair of hard EKs out of Seattle, tough to pick a fav but I gotta go with the Mugen’d out green one.
I’m in love with this EG, the way the yellow Recaros and kevlar Backyard Special lip and duckbill tie together is so hot.
This car is so pure, I love older cars modified in a period correct fashion like this. And seeing it next to the Tra-Kyoto 6666 Customs S13 is the cherry on top.
